Dai Kee Food, 大記攦粉糕點專門店

August 2014

One day after my dumplings I was still looking around for good food.   I discovered this special noodle and Chinese pastry shop.  It looks very local and ordinary.  Upfront it shows loads of photos with celebrities and endorsement from a food critic, Chua Lam 蔡瀾.  It features 攦粉 which is noodle made with rice but much thicker than the normal thin rice noodle.  Another focus is Chinese pastry (糕點).  This is Dai Kee Food, 大記攦粉糕點專門店.

The noodle was nice, with lots of vegetables. My choice was fish ball wrapped with minced pork, with slightly sour and spicy soup.  The presentation of the beef brisket noodle was appealing.  There were many choices.  Budget between HK$30 and HK$36. With a few dollars, you can add kinds of food.

You will still have room for more food after the noodle.  Try the Chinese pastry, each about HK$5, very good price and value.   Mine were: black sesame and Osmanthus (桂花).  The black sesame was very intensive.  Like!  I prefer more intensive Osmanthus flavor.  It let me down a bit.  The pastry was packed individually.  Feel free to order take-away.  Overall, the dining experience was good.   Service was nice too.   It was still full at 2pm.  Expect a queue during the peak lunch hours.
