Sabor Spanish Touch Private Kitchen

The name of Sabor Spanish Touch Private Kitchen to me in 2019. I reserved a table for inner with ex-colleagues. As my father was discharged from the hospital on the evening booked with Sabor. I had to cancel the reservation the night before. Gladly for the occasion of celebrating Cammie's birthday, I could finally have a taste of the sumptuous food (2022) pairing with Malvasia Puntinata Roma Poggio Le Volpi from WineRack.

Sabor means flavor in English. Interpretation from the private kitchen - Flavor of Spain-Expression of Life through food, wine and companionship. A fun way of dining and socializing under one umbrella.

A warm and cosy feeling pop up immediately when entering the venue. The interior is aesthetically decorated with different elements and enlightened with dimmed lights. The space is not crammed with tables to maximize patronage. Big windows help enlarge the space. In the front is a bar with different wine glasses hanging on top, then a sofa before guests heading to their tables. The serving waitresses are very friendly and attentive. A good impression!

We are welcome with crispy toast topped with diced and juicy tomato and olive oil. It stimulates our appetite to look forward to the upcoming dishes. Another welcome snack is potato salad with yogurt dressing. Potato, ham and the creamy dressing marry happily and harmonious.

Here comes the first tapa: clams in fish sauce. It was piping hot. Smoke smog the lens of my mobile camera. I wait for a while to shoot a photo. Along with the smoke is a fantastic smell. The clams are fresh, fat and bouncing. The soup is so good that we finish all, no drop left.

Grilled cuttlefish with green aioli foam is the second appetizer. The cuttlefish is perfectly grilled, tender and full of umami. It is excellent on its own. The texture and taste of the cuttlefish are further enhanced by dipping into the parsley aioli foam.

Stuffed liquid in black ink is served next. The squids are packed with porcini, minced pork and onion. The parsley oil amplifies the taste of the squid. Fragrance and satisfaction fill our palette and hearts. We wish to have more ....

Portobello mushroom benedict is also fabulous. The Portobello is tender by soaking in broth. It lies on a bed of rocket leaves with contrasting texture and flavors.

Crab Croquette - wow! Like bombs of crab! A crispy outside layer wraps the creamy and delicious crab fillings. More, please!  No feedback, unfortunately.

Garlic shrimp is a classic Spanish tapa. The simple mixture of shrimps and garlic in hot olive oil wins applause. The shrimps are fresh and spongy chewy.

Our wine, Malvasia Puntinata Roma Poggio Le Volpi, compliments the dishes perfectly. Intense aromas of tropical fruit, nuts and mineral sensations on the nose, fruity and floral flavor in the mouth mingle awesomely with the seafood tapas. Bravo! Thanks to Matthew from WineRack.

We drop the standard desserts tiramisu and crema Catalana, but have churros. They are served in a little metallic basket sitting on a plate with Spanish birthday greetings to Cammie. The presentation is super. The churros are crispy from the outside and soft inside. Not oily at all and not overly sweet. With a dip into the chocolate sauce, it feels like heaven.

Sabor normally provides two menus. One is tapas and the other with paella. We opt for tapas. Sobor also offers other typical Spanish dishes/drinks suh as suckling pig, cheese platter, Sangria. If you prefer something special or customised speak to Tomi.
