The Platform

Two friends and I were looking for a lunch venue to meet up. I picked The Platform, a little homey café with western cuisine and coffee. It is famous for the hearty food (e.g. bagel, desserts) and long queue. The Platform does not take reservation. Guests can stay one hour if it is busy. We visited The Platform Café on a hot Sunday. Mandy and I arrived earlier. As one was still missing, we could either take a seat and start the timing or wait the missing one outside the cafe. We chose to wait. The other friend still did not show up after quite a while. A waitress offered the two of us to sit inside but not counting the time. Very nice gesture! Appreciated.

The decoration is towards modern classic. The food is creative. The atmosphere and food presentation are Instagrammable. The coziness makes guests want to stay longer. Next to the entrance is a big window with some pots of plants. Light comes through. If the temperature was lower, it would be a pleasure to sit outside the café.

We first ordered Pull Pork bagel and Shakshuka. For coffee, we made the rare choices of pineapple black and Black blood orange black coffee. They were refreshing and special. The rich pull pork in BBQ sauce was balanced with refreshing green apple salad. The dish was dotted with parmesan cheese chips, adding extra and complimentary texture.

The Shakshuka 港式煲蛋 was served in a clay pot. Half cooked eggs mingled with salsiccia, pork sausage, kale chips, mushroom, potato, feta cheese and tomato sauce tasted superb. Applause to the creativity and great taste!

In between, the last friend arrived. While enjoying the ordered dishes, she picked the pearl scallop & truffle linguine. The fragrance was irresistibly fantastic when it was served. Gorgeous smell of truffle! Al dente linguine with plenty of mini scallops, asparagus, mushroom and crab roe. A magnificent pairing and heavenly taste. The food made us happy.

The serving portion was big. We had no space for dessert.  Plus, Mandy needed to rush to the Hong Kong Island for afternoon tea and dinner at Ivan theKozak. Next time ……..

Last but not least, it’s a bit difficult to find The Platform. It is on the rim of Tin Sam Village, facing Lung Hang public estate. Hope this will help you find it smoothly.
