Let's Yum Cha 得閒飲茶

 

My sister woke up and asked to have dim sum together.  We visited  徐家廚房 in Prince Edward last time. It was good but not to a degree that we wanted to go back after a short while. While driving, I kept looking for recommended dim sum shops. The top two  添好運 and 籠太子 were not yet opened. The third one, Hot Spot 熱點, is located at the big street (Nathan Road). It might be difficult to find a parking lot. We opt for the top fourth Let's Yum Cha 得閒飲茶.

We arrived at Prince Edward around 8am but all toll car parking space was occupied. Until we saw a taxi driver preparing his vehicle to start business of the day.   Let's Yum Cha was already full (a good sign). We had to wait for about 5 minutes to get in. 

The choices of food were great, both traditional and modern dim sum. The chef won a prize for the shrimp dumplings 蝦餃. The shrimps were fresh and bouncy. We ordered 9 dishes of dim sum, two for my father (take away). My most preferred dim sum was sweet potato lava ball 紫薯煎堆. Salty egg yolk is wrapped by mashed sweet potato and then glutinous flour dotted with fried rice pieces. It was really yum!

Rice roll is one of my childhood's favourites. Typical fillings are minced beef, char shiu and shrimps. Nowadays, the choices have proliferated. To see if it is really good, we ordered char shiu rice rolls. It's smooth and tasty. Char shiu was juicy and tender.

Deep fried dim sum never fails here. The spring roll after the sweet potato lava balls was crispy and delicious. It was filled with loads of vegetables. Healthy and yum!

The turnip cake was featured outside the restaurant. It appealed my sister.  But the deliverable was a bit starchy. Just not our cup of tea.

The custard lava bun in a cat shape was disappointed. First, the deliverable was not as nice as in the demonstrated photo. Secondly, the filling was almost solidified. It did not flow as lava. 

Overall, we were happy with the food and will come back with the other family members. Beware that the restaurant does not provide booking service. Be there early or at non-peak hours. Guten appetit!
