Cat's Eye 貓之眼 日式醬汁飯專門店

My colleague, Mimi, is a gastronomist. She patronised different restaurants at lunch time or has early dinner, with friends or on her own. She sometimes calls herself 'lonely gatronomist'. Once, she looked around, online and offline, and suggested to visit Cat's Eye on Swatow Street. I was a bit suspicious if we could get a table as there was a long queue every time we passed by. Luckily, Cat's Eye offers booking at the mezzanine floor which guests have to self their own. The advantages are more space, freedom and less disturbance,

Cat's Eye is a yoshoku (洋食) style restaurant. It means the cooking style is western-influenced.  Featured dishes are Japanese omelette rice with different fabulous sauces: beef brisket in tomato sauce, beef in onion sauce, hamburger gravy sauce, cream sauce, etc. The two I tried were excellent.

The omelette was outstanding. It was soft, runny and yummy. It is, however, different from the normal omelette rice. The omelette does not wrap the rice but a thick layer sits on rice. No problem, the key is delicious, not the form.

We ordered different dishes. All were well done and liked.  They were:

Signature: 3-colour omelette rice (curry pork and beef in tomato sauce) 招牌三色蛋包飯(咖哩豬肉 + 濃茄牛肉)

Beef Hamburger and beef in onion sauce
