Da Vincenzo

It was a rainy day and simultaneously a pre-birthday celebration dinner for Fanny. Beforehand I spent less than 2 hours in the handicraft fair held at the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC).  The fair is held over a weekend once every three months.  It provides a platform for local and overseas (especially Taiwan) young artists and entrepreneurs to showcase their products.  See, a soap with brilliant shine when placed with light underneath.  Amazing and beautiful!   A very nice tea diffuser and a pearl necklace.

Then I took a bus to Tai Kok Tsui, went through the Olympian City and finally to the other end of the MTR station to meet Fanny and Carrie, heading to the long awaiting Italian restaurant, Da Vincenzo. The exterior is featured with bricks. Rustic and cosy! The interior decoration aligns with the exterior.

We began with a sweet wine, refreshing in the cold rainy night but not freezing. Guests kept coming. The little restaurant was filled up very quick. The waitress had to turn down some guests as most of the diners were just be seated.

Carrie needed a soup to warm up. She praised that her mushroom soup was great. Fanny and I shared most of the salad. Very very fresh and delightful!

Following the good salad is a fantastic pizza, the best I ever ate in Hong Kong.  Even I prefer pasta to pizza, I liked this thin dough infused with great flavours. Pepperoni, tomato and cheese became a heaven combination by Vincenzo.

Carrie recommended the chicken skewer. A tasty dish with lots of flavours: chicken, paprika, salad and excellent French fries.

While eating we were accompanied with very nice Italian songs.  Many were from Tiziano Ferro. A big screen was playing videos of many gorgeous cities in Italy.   Oh, my heart flew to the lovely country.  Impressive are cities in the south, Diamante, Pizzo and Villa san Giovanni.

We were full but there was still the seafood risotto.  Sorry, we could not take too much any more.  It was a pity.

Then it came the highlights: handsome chefs and cakes from Lady M .

The famous layer cake was filled with slightly sweet cream, very nice! The strawberry cake was made with very soft sponge cake and fresh strawberries. Vincenzo and his friend decorated the pieces with happy birthday candles. They sang the birthday song in Italian. Impressive and unforgettable!
