Sam Mok Korean Restaurant 三木韓國料理

Stephanie was very nice to invite me to Sam Mok Korean restaurant.  It is in Tsim Sha Tsui but not in the Korean Street (Kimberly Street).  The location is upstair of a building which the first few lower floors are occupied by restaurants as the rent in Hong Kong soared too high.

We had an early dinner on a Sunday, the day prior to my birthday.  Sam Mok was empty when we arrived.  The situation did not improve as time went by.  Stephanie said it was full house on a normal weekday.  She had to wait for a table after 9pm even with a booking.  But Sunday is rather a quiet day for Sam Mok, normally.  No table reservation still guarantees to fill you full at any time.

Two women, three dishes.  All ended up in our stomach.  You know why, I assume.  The first dishes, no wonder, were the vegetables appetizers.  All were nice and healthy.

Then came the ginseng chicken soup.  It was delicious. Rice was in the soup. It filled you up a bit.  And the chicken.....  Stephanie ate half of the chicken.  I ate one thigh.   Hmm, I normally don't eat the chicken meat in soup as it is normally rough.  But this chicken was nice.  I just did not want to filled up totally.

The seafood pancake was excellent.  The spicy condiment was a good match.  All 6 pieces disappeared finally, after a long while.

I like the ox bone soup the most.  It was tender, juicy and succulent.  The sweetness of carrot and other kinds of  vegetable gave 100% satisfaction to the dish.  Perfect!

Don't mis take that this is the only typical Korean food.  The restaurant also serves Korean BBQ, soy crab and other Korean dishes.  Two people just don't have the big enough stomach to put so much BBQ meat in the evening.  But I look forward to returning to Sam Mok.

Our dinner lasted for more than 2 hours as Stephanie needed to work the next day and a guest was visiting me home for a new trial of mango mousse cake with mango white chocolate glaze.  It was a very nice day, sumptuous dinner and indulgent cake serving Ruby.
