Le Moment

It has been a long while that I haven't met Soo.  A Sunday before Christmas that she flew back home?  Time flies.  We were so busy and tortured by work.  Let's meet and cheers!   I made some search for restaurants, short listed a few and we both unanimously picked Le Moment.  I called during the lunch hour for a table.  Ah, last dinner night?  What's it?  The owner, Bob sent me the menu and I needed to confirm the dishes in a short while.  Well, mission completed.

Le Moment is located quite high up the Peel Street.  A narrow small place with many tables almost kissing each other.   Bob emphasized that each table must order a bottle of wine.  He brought us 5 bottles of different white wine and explained the characters of each.  We picked Chablis, the safest.   It was good, no question.

The smoked salmon César was good but not wow.  The tomato soup was creamy and thick.  Tomato dices sat at the bottom of the dish, fresh and yummy!  Even nicer if the size would have been a bit bigger.

We soon noticed that Le Moment is a place mainly for wine.  If you don't order wine, then it's not a place for you.  Not sure if Bob will still give you a table.   Soo ordered Spice Roasted French Duck Breast, wild Berries Au Jus.  And I, Grilled Spanish Iberico Pork Rack w/ Black Truffle Wild Mushroom Reduction which I liked very much, to an extent that I tried mushroom sauce with truffle for my pasta at home right on Sunday.  The truffle added so much flavor to the dish.  Good pork from Spain.  All complimented so well that I asked for more sauce, to let it linger longer in my mouth.  Still thinking of the taste at time of writing.

The place was filled up very soon.  People were sitting outside and Bob was here and there to mingle with his guests.  Most tables were filled with friends but a middle aged Caucasian man was drinking alone.  He seemed to be a frequent guest.

Moment of truth came - apple crumble.  Good comments read about it.  It came out big and yummy.  Not too sweet, fantastic crumble and lovely apple slices.  OMG!  The chocolate mango crumble was good but second to the apple crumble.  It was a good night out, enjoyable, good wine and food.  It was the last night that the cook worked there.  He was going to work for himself.  Wish him a good journey!
