Shatin 18 沙田18, Hyatt Regency

 

It's a friend's reunion.  Second time we met up after Form 7 graduation.  Long long while ago.  We've grown up!   Mandy works with schools on projects of elite children.  Wow, a great job and profession!  We had a relaxed and cosy lunch at Hyatt, Shatin 18.  

Baked cod fish, miso pastry

Shatin 18 is famous for its Peking Duck.  For sure, we two little women could not order the big dish.  Well, let's go for something else, also nice and palatable. Baked cod fish miso pastry served as the first dish.  Light flavor of the fish, buttery pastry.  Yum!


It was a rainy cold day.  So , a warming congee for the two not so hungry friends.  Beef congee cooked in Hokkaido milk, a gimmick yet velvet.  Together were an array of side dishes.


Next dish, rather Peking style, mutton pancake.  Crispy pastry wrapped hot mutton.  Perhaps, the best of our meal.


With the best above, then this is the worst of our meal.  It's fusion!  Fermented bean curd cheesecake.  We could not taste much of the fermented bean curd which should be the star of Christmas tree.  But it was very subtle.  Yup, if it is too strong then it may spoil the cheese flavor.  Still, it was name fermented bean curd.....
