Zenpachi Shabu Shabu 禪八日本料理

Alex was in town.  This time we had only one chance to have dinner together.  We opt for Shabu Shabu, not easy to have a good one in New York whilst the restaurant is very close to the office, more or less just across the street. Well, I had never been to this restaurant, Zenpachi Shabu Shabu, in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The first impression of the restaurant is it should be an authentic one.  The setting, Japanese serving staff and Japanese diners.  You can reserve a private dinning room sitting on tatami or get a table in the dining hall.

We ordered a shabu shabu set came with prawn sashimi, crab legs, cooked prawn and eel, vegetable and udon.  Of course, the star, beef.  Extras include mixed grill, a small sushi platter and a bottle of never-finish sake.

The service was good, very attentive.  Food did  not come all in once.  But they let you complete one or some then waited the beef to be served at the end.  First the appetisers.  They were fresh.  When the sashimi as in the mouth, it's like swimming in the sea, slight sweetness flowing.  I love the sea urchin and scallop.

We took Kimchi and original as the soup base.  The previous was not hot at all.  Beef quality was superb.  The portion seems small but we were full.
