Wonderland Too

30 April, 2012

It's a holiday eve, a time to relax and meet a dear friend.  Hmm, where to eat?  A few searches at openrice, with filter of French, Italian and limit the price between $151 and 300.  It took me to a a few good ones and we decided to go for Wonderland Too, quite a new one in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The restaurant positions oyster and steak as its specialities.  Guests can choose to sit inside or outside on its terrace.  It was empty when we arrived at 7pm but soon filled up and crowded.  Fortunately, we could still hear each other.  The dining hall was dark.  The menu was light up.  It's like fluorescent light on the back showcasing the menu.  We picked a menu for two, at $588 including a choice of appetizer, soup, pasta/risotto and main.  Tea or coffee inclusive or pay extra $40 to opt for a class of house red or white.

We took the oyster as our appetiser.  Fresh and succulent.  Passed.  The carrot soup was too plain. Bread was so so, no big appeal to try the truffle butter given the quality of the bread.

The risotto reverted the impression left by the soup.  It's creamy, al dente and tasted good.  More abundant seafood will make it perfect.  Oh, I remembered to take a photo a while after commencing enjoying the dish.  No harm, your appetite is not mitigated, right?

The lamb was tender.  Just slightly pull the meat from the bone, it fell off.  The meat was nice, accompanied by rich tomato sauce.  Like!

To end the meal, we took two desserts.  Both were good.  The cake came with chocolate aroma, before the cut.  It was not very hot, should have been sitting for a while in the kitchen so that the cake would not collapse when guest cut it across. Delicious!

The cream brulee was fragrant and velvet. The taste enhanced through a fruity syrup on top.  Very nice indeed!

At the end of the write up, just found this restaurant was also featured by Time Out Hong Kong.  So, endorsement!
