Cai Yun Kee in Tai Po 蔡潤記


We visited our father in Tai Po Hospital today and took the chance to try the renowned restaurant Cai Yun Yee for beef brisket, tripe, tendon, etc.  It is a neighbourhood restaurant run by a family.  Many people are eating, waiting.  It is written on the wall: 'Wait patently if you want delicious food'. You can view it as complacency or good intetion to manage its guests' expectation in advance.  Our food was served more than 20 minutes after we have placed the order.  Be prepared.  


The noodle is al dente.  The tripe cooked to the perfect tenderness.  Tendon was soft and almost dissolved in mouth.  The beef broth is light but full of favour.  Fish balls and slices were good.  A lot of guests ordered one choice from the cattle together with fish ball or fish skin.  Everybody was very eager to eat there with very much patience.  Noodle with one choice of food costs HK$20.  Additional choice costs extra $8.  A good deal.  If you want to try, be sure to be there before 3pm.

今天我們一家人到大埔醫院探望爸爸,順道嚐嚐聞名四方的蔡潤記,來一碗牛肚麵、魚蛋和粉腸。麵煮得爽口彈牙,牛肚香濃,牛筋入口即溶,果然名不虛傳。這店是家庭式經營,老爹和老媽坐鎮,兒子加一親戚做樓面,招呼十二桌食客,等是不可避免的了。牆上寫着[欲品嚐美味,請耐心等侯]。超型! 該店只營業至下午三時,請早請早!


年廾九再訪蔡潤記,只是下午一時多,只剩牛,魚蛋魚片全沽清,離開前已開始落閘,初十六再見!牛腩是清湯腩的一類,瘦而不'諧',是印象中最好的一間,也點了午丸,但至愛始終是牛肚和牛根。
